Description
Our cooling coats for dogs Chiller® Chien Cool Coat (for back length sizes 25 cms to 90 cms) and Chiller® Cool Coat will keep your dog cool, calm and chilled on the hottest of days. Both our Chiller® coat and Chiller® Chien coat have the same cooling effect and because of the way they work the cooling effect is tied to the ambient conditions. Your dog is kept at a comfortable temperature.
The Chiller® Chien has a fixed girth strap that wraps under the dog and is a design suited to almost every breed whether standard shape, Whippet, Greyhound, Pug, Frenchie or Staffie!
How does the cooling coat work?
It is made of a material especially designed to hold water without wetting your dog. So while your dog stays dry and odour free, all the Chiller® coats transfer heat away from the dog keeping him cool and comfortable in the hot sunshine. Your dog will be dry beneath the coat. It is the evaporation of the water from the coat that cools your dog rather than the cold water it holds. Thus, the ambient temperature will determine the rate of cooling as it determines the rate of evaporation. Your dog will be kept cool and not cold. SEE OUR HOW TO VIDEO.
Who can use the chiller coat?
Competition or pet dog –use your Chiller® Chien whenever you need to keep your best friend cool. Whether your dog is working, out exercising or lazing in the garden or hot home our Chiller® cooling coats will keep your dog cool and refreshed.
Whether lazing in the garden, travelling in the car or racing about in the mid-day sun, your dog will stay cool and refreshed.
When the cooling coat is drying out re-wet with any water – no tap? Dip it in the sea or river. No water about? Just pour water from a bottle or container. Always remove the dry coat if you are unable to re-wet it. However, even on the hottest days the Chiller® cooling coat will stay wet and so continue cooling for hours.
What do I need to do to use the coat effectively?
Before fitting the Chiller® coat simply soak it in a bowl of water, then wring out the excess water, leaving plenty of water in it but without it dripping. Do not over-tighten the girth strap as your dog will need room to be able to lie down. SEE OUR HOW TO VIDEO.
Measure from base of neck to start of tail or refer to our sizing page for further instructions.
Built to last, follow our washing and storage instructions to ensure longevity of your purchase.
The Chiller®Chien has a fixed strap to one side of the coat which wraps under your dog to fasten on the other side. This design will fit a huge variety of breeds from pugs, frenchies, staffies, bulldogs, boxers, to greyhounds and all breeds between. The front and girth strap have a great range of adjustment and will fit almost any breed.
The Chiller® is made also for larger dogs – back lengths 80 and 90 cms – and has great adjustment strap.
Our cooling coat is ideal for use when out walking to keep your dog cool.
How should I store my cooling coat?
The final manufacturing procedure involves steaming the coats using a proven and safe anti-bacterial and fungicidal process. This is why your new coat will be damp in its bag. When new and clean and sealed correctly in its packaging, your coat can be stored safely for as long as you wish with no fear of mould or mildew. You may transport in a plastic bag but never store it wet in a bag. For longest life and to avoid incorrect storage always allow it to dry naturally when not in use. While wet fold your coat to a convenient size for storage:-
- Allow coat to dry naturally
- It will dry hard (like a chamois leather)
- To rejuvenate and make soft for use do not fold or bend or attempt to pull surfaces apart. Soak in water. As it absorbs the water, gently massage all areas to encourage absorption in all areas. Your coat will open as you do this, then use as normal. You should not bend, fold or pull it apart when dry as this product is made in layers with a mesh within and you may damage a surface, which will not impact performance, but will prove less aesthetically pleasing.
Can I wash my Chiller® & Chiller® Chien coat?
If you wash your coat then whether by hand or machine please note:
* Use cool water 30C.
* Do not use bleaches, sterilising agents as they will remove all colour from your coat. The coat will still cool your dog though.
* WASH AND STORE DIFFERENT COLOURS SEPARATELY TO AVOID COLOUR TRANSFER.
* If you add anything to water use your usual washing powder or tablet without adding any conditioner.
* Always ensure when washing that the hook and loop fastenings (velcro style) are fastened together.
